Spin physics in nanographenes

In this theoretical project we will study the electronic structure and spin states of various graphene nanostructures such as nanoflakes and nanoribbons. Starting from a tight-binding description of the carbon p_z orbitals and the meanfield Hubbard model we will explore the emergence of spin-polarized states and analyze numerically the effective spin interactions hosted in these systems.
