Error Correction for Robust DNA Storage Systems

Massive data sets from fields like AI, healthcare, and climate science require scalable, durable, and cost-effective storage solutions. Traditional technologies fall short in longevity and density, positioning DNA as a promising alternative due to its exceptional stability and data density. This talk explores error correction strategies for building robust DNA storage systems, covering both base-by-base and block-by-block synthesis approaches. It also highlights PEARL-DNA, an EU-funded project developing a scalable, sustainable end-to-end DNA data storage platform. Key features include a high-throughput liquid handling system, specialized data coding methods, and a long-term storage system for DNA preservation at room temperature.
