Multimode plasmomechanics in surface-enhanced Raman scattering Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) describes a giant increase in the Raman scattering intensity close to metal nanostructures. The main enhancement mechanism of SERS results from the interaction between the plasmonic near field of the metal and the Raman probe molecule or nanostructure. SERS is exploited for single-molecule detection and ultra-high resolution optical scanning. Recently, several groups noted the formal similarity between plasmonic SERS enhancement and macroscopic optomechanics, proposing the field of plasmomechanics or molecular optomechanics. In this talk I discuss enhanced Raman scattering in molecules and carbon nanostructures using well-defined plasmonic hotspots produced by electron beam lithography. I will show that the interaction of the plasmons and the molecules leads to a collective molecular mode. This is a clear signature of plasmomechanical interaction that potentially will give rise to phenomena like collective gain and super- radiance. **Host** : J.I. Pascual
