This talk consists of three topics. The first part deals with the fabrication
of polymer optical fibers, particularly, microstructured polymer optical
fibers. The second part will be focused on the application of theses fibers to
light amplification and sensing. Finally, the last section will address the
design and use of interferometric fiber optic sensors.
