Magnetic Impurities on Superconducting β-Bi2Pd The antagonistic nature of magnetism and superconductivity gives rise to exotic phenomena, such as quantum levitation or unconventional pairing. At the scale of single magnetic adatoms, they combine to form spin-polarized Shiba states. In this work, we show how these states can be tuned and what kind of information can be extracted from their excitation spectra. Furthermore, from the analysis of the Shiba wavefunction, we characterize inter-band scattering events in β-Bi2Pd, a superconductor with multiple bands crossing the Fermi level, and identify the presence of spin-polarized bands in the superconducting condensate.
