Artificially layered ferroelectric structures allow functional properties to
be defined through the thickness of the constituent layers while surface
termination can be separately controlled and modified to suit particular
applications. Two applications of note are the control of graphene resistivity
by the polarization state of the ferroelectric, and enhanced photocatalyzed
water splitting on the ferroelectric surface, and I will report on our work in
both of these areas in this seminar.
