Quantum computing is an emerging industry with a broad range of applications from cryptography to drug discovery. The key component, the qubit, has been realized in several areas of nanoscience. A candidate for the far future is the molecular spin qubit, the smallest engineerable and readily scalable unit of quantum information. However, techniques to address, decouple, and quantum-coherently control individual molecular spins are still in their infancy.
In this talk, we will explore a strategy to create and decouple individual carbon-based molecular spin qubits. We then implement a novel scanning tunneling microscopy technique and use it to perform electron spin resonance of a single adatom. Our findings enable future studies on the quantum coherence of molecular spin qubits.
