From Data Analysis to Machine learning, the mathematical connection that makes Scientists so valuable in tech companies.

This talk explores how technical skills learned in academia, like understanding data and creating algorithms, can be directly useful in the field of Machine Learning. We'll show practical examples of how these skills are used in real-world problems that tech companies such as Netflix or Spotify have to deal with on a regular basis. We will also reflect on how other soft skills such as presenting in front of big audiences or designing data visualizations can become differentiators in the industry. Finally, we will also explore potential gaps that naturally appear as many ML practitioners have a strong software engineering background, and how one can overcome such challenges with online education.
