Opportunities for Ultrafast Science at the FXE Instrument at the European XFEL

The Femtosecond X-ray Experiments (FXE) instrument at the EuXFEL provides state-of-the-art instrumentation for ultrafast pump-probe studies. Those allow detailed investigation of the electronic correlations during different physical, chemical and biological processes with the possibility of delivering a "molecular movie" picture of the consequent atomic motions [1,2]. In this talk I will present a brief description of the current instrumentation, give details on their performance and describe the experimental capabilities of FXE for studies of chemical dynamics in solution and hard condensed matter at MHz rates. A few selected examples of successful experiments will be shown and a discussion involving the most recent advances and future instrumentation will presented.
