The successful on-surface polymerization reaction of co-deposited zwitterionic quinones with Fe on the Ag(111) and the Au(110) surfaces are reported. Its electronic structure is clarified by SGGA+U calculation with and without substrate. The synthesized polymers represent spin crossover chains with two different spin-states (S=2 and S=1 per Fe) for different lattice constants. Host: Peter KOVAL
