Spin-dependent Chemistry A number of recent experimental developments has rekindle the interest on chemical reactions showing strong magnetic and spin-dependent effects. Although the number of chemical reactions likely to show this effects is relatively limited, it includes some very important examples as free radical and avoided crossing reactions, which are important in solar cells and biological systems. Using our recently developed theoretical model of the Chirality Induced Spin Selectivity (CISS) effect, I will examine in detail the implications of molecular chirality in spin-dependent chemistry, a fascinating new frontier of research where theory and experiment merge.
