Travelling in Valence Space The lecture focuses on recent theoretical studies of compounds of main-group atoms, transition metals, lanthanides and actinides, which stretch the border of conventional understanding of valence orbitals and chemical bonding [1]. Part of the work is unpublished so far. [1] a) "Octacarbonyl Anion Complexes of Group 3 Transition Metals [TM(CO)8]- (TM = Sc, Y, La) and the 18-Electron Rule". J. Jin, T. Yang, K. Xin, G. Wang, X.
