Multi-gap topology of phonons Multi-gap topology associated with real Hamiltonians has recently emerged as a new direction in the study of topological matter. Despite growing interest, the experimental observation of multi-gap topology in real materials is still missing. In this talk, I will argue that phonons could be an ideal platform for the exploration of multi-gap topology in real materials. I will describe a first principles density functional theory implementation for the calculation of quantities related to multi-gap topology, highlighting the Euler class. Using this framework, I will also describe a few material candidates exhibiting multi-gap topology in their phonon spectrum, and associated experimental signatures for their observation.
