Astronomical instrumentation: a window of opportunities Modern astronomy requires to observe the Universe at different electromagnetic wavelengths. The important investments done in the last years in astronomical facilities have attracted the attention of many contiguous research fields, among them, the areas studying the interaction of matter and radiation. These areas have the potentiality of improving the efficiency/through-put of the future astronomical devices. In the talk a general review on astronomical instrumentation will be done, making emphasis on those niches where there might still be a wide room for improvement.
