Abstract: I will present the dialogue between quantum optics and circuit quantum electrodynamics (QED) as a playground for studying fundamentals of quantum physics and potential applications to quantum information. Furthermore, I will discuss the impact that these ideas and developments could have in the near future associated to emergent quantum technologies.
