We made significant progress in understanding strong field atomic ionization
with short
and intense electromagnetic pulses of various degree of polarization. The
photoelectron
spectra reveal peculiarity of strong field ionization in multi-photon and
tunneling regimes
and display a Coulomb singularity which can be removed by switching from
linear to
circular polarization. The time delay studies provide rigorous tests to
various attosecond
measuring devices.
