Quantum Engineering with ultracold matter Abstract: The ability to coherently control light-matter interactions has generated numerous advances in the field of quantum gases. As a result, ultracold gases provide a complementary platform to condensed matter systems for investigating many-body physics. In this talk, I will concentrate on three aspects of ultracold physics in optical lattices, namely, i) achievable non-standard Hubbard models going beyond standard condensed-matter systems, ii) open system description of strongly interacting molecules and iii) using time-periodic forces to simulate topological states.
