Circular chemistry in supercritical fluids: Synthesis, shaping and recycling of materials

The coupling between Chemistry and Process in sub- and supercritical fluids offers an interesting alternative to solution and gas-phase approaches to design functional materials but also to consider their end of life.
This presentation will first introduce sub- and supercritical fluids and their specific properties. After a presentation of their applications in the synthesis and shaping of materials (oxides, metals, geominerals whose calcium silicates, etc.), a focus on their uses in the field of material recycling will be proposed from complex multimaterials dismantling to permanent magnets, composites, solar panels, batteries, etc., recycling.

About the speaker

Cyril Aymonier is CNRS senior researcher and director of the Institute of Condensed Matter Chemistry of Bordeaux (about 270 people). His current research interests are i) the study of the chemistry and nucleation & growth in supercritical fluids applied to the design of advanced nanostructured materials, ii) the investigation of material recycling using supercritical fluids and iii) the development of the associated supercritical fluids based technologies. Cyril Aymonier has so far authored/co-authored 194 peer-reviewed journal articles, 10 book chapters and 45 patents.
