The Materials Physics Center (CFM) is organising a Software Carpentry workshop
on the UPV/EHU Ibaeta campus on June 28th-30th.
Software Carpentry mission is to help scientists and engineers get more research done in less time and with less pain by teaching them basic lab skills for scientific computing. This hands-on workshop will cover:
- an introduction to shell scripting and
- the popular software version control system 'git' and also
- an introduction to the Python programming language and
- a walkthrough over some of its scientific and numerical libraries.
A little bit of computer knowledge is helpful but essentially these are basic introductions.
Andrés Díaz-Gil, from the Institute for Theoretical Physics (UAM-CSIC), Mateusz Kuzak, from the Netherlands eScience Center, and Iñigo Aldazabal, from CFM, will be the instructors.
Attendance is free but seats are limited to 40 people.
