The Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC) hosted the presentation of 'Pedro Miguel Etxenike. Científico vasco universal' / 'Pedro Miguel Etxenike. Euskal zientzialari unibertsala', the new biography of physicist Pedro Miguel Etxenike, written by journalist and writer Fermin Erbiti and published by Pamiela. The event featured Etxenike himself, Erbiti and Lander Majuelo, representing the publishing house.
The book offers an overview of the life and career of Pedro Miguel Etxenike Landiribar, one of the Basque scientists with the greatest international recognition. Alongside his scientific achievements, the book highlights his commitment to science and to his country. Erbiti looks back at Etxenike’s experiences and personal journey while exploring some of the issues that have shaped his career and thinking, including science and research, politics, education, the university, culture and the challenges facing society today.
The book is divided into two parts. The first focuses on Etxenike’s personal and professional journey and brings together his reflections on different aspects of his life and work. The second includes the testimony of fourteen people close to the scientist, whose experiences and memories help complete his personal and professional portrait.

About the author
Fermin Erbiti (Pamplona, 1964) holds a degree in Information Sciences and is a corresponding member of Euskaltzaindia, the Academy of the Basque Language. He is currently Head of Communications at the Comptos Chamber of Navarre. He is the author of around ten books, including Hiru koaderno txiki, winner of the Juan Zelaia Essay Prize in 2011, Ametsa egia (2015), Vicente Madoz, el psiquiatra humanista. Lecciones de una vida (2023) and Iñaki Perurena. Harria bidelagun (2024).
