Equality
Equality between women and men is one of the fundamental values of the European Union, widely reflected in his treaties. In the field of science, the European Commission includes a strong commitment to advance towards gender equality, although as the She Figures report summarizes, there is still a lot of room for progress: even if a balance is being reached between the number of women and men that access doctorate studies, their distribution by branches of knowledge is not homogeneous, the number of female scientists is still lower (one third of the total), particularly at the highest levels of the scientific career, more precariousness is maintained and the wage gap persists (17% in Europe). From DIPC we ratify the commitment to achieve effective equality between women and men. For this reason, we have launched an internal reflection process that has culminated in the First Equality Plan of DIPC, whose implementation is scheduled for the 2020-2024 period.
