The Pint of Science Festival is an international event that invites the scientific community to share their knowledge in a relaxed atmosphere. DIPC sponsors and participates in this initiative to bring science closer to the public.

On Monday DIPC participates in:

• "Localizando metalofármacos en el espacio celular" with Esteban Zingales (DIPC) and Manuel Sánchez del Castillo (DIPC). X-ray based techniques, such as X-ray Fluorescence Microscopy (XFM) and X-ray Absorption Near Edge Structure (XANES), are very useful tools to study metallopharmaceuticals in living organisms. They are very precise (they detect very small quantities), do not damage the samples and allow us to observe the elements inside the cells. This helps us to follow the trace of metallopharmaceuticals in living organisms. In this talk, we explain how these techniques work, their applications, underlining their importance in the development of new metallopharmaceuticals. • "El Mejor Regalo es un Material Topológico" with Francesc Ballester (DIPC). We all know the analogy of the cup and the donut, but what does this have to do with materials? How are electrons (or other particles) structured inside a crystalline material? Why does what happens inside the material affect the surface? What are these materials good for? Is there any practical application? All this we will answer during the talk, seeing which knots can be easily untied and which cannot, talking about electrons and phonons in the materials.
