On the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Faculty of Chemistry, Materials Physics Center (CFM CSIC-UPV/EHU), Donostia Kultura and the Faculty have organized the lecture series “50 Years Spreading Chemistry”. In this cycle, members of the Faculty will speak at Ernest Lluch K.E. on various topics worked on in their laboratories, in monthly talks aimed at all audiences. The talks will be presented by Idoia Mugika, head of communication at CFM.
In this first talk Pedro Miguel Echenique will reflect on beauty and the future in femtosecond chemistry based on some of the important contributions of the faculty.
The talk “Science. Beauty. Future” ("Ciencia. Belleza. Futuro") will be in Spanish.
About the speaker
Pedro Miguel Etxenike is Professor Emeritus of Condensed Matter Physics at UPV/EHU and President of DIPC and MPC. Honorary President of Jakiunde, honorary member of the Royal Academy of Sciences and of the Académie Royale de Belgique and the European Physical Society. He has received numerous awards, such as, the Euskadi Research Award (1996), the Prince of Asturias Award for Scientific and Technical Research (1998) and the Max Planck Physics Award (1998). He has devoted a great effort to promote science as an economic and cultural activity, and to highlight the importance of a scientifically informed society.
