The documentary "El Secreto de la Naturaleza", produced by the Chair of Scientific Culture of the UPV/EHU and directed by José Antonio Pérez Ledo, will be screened as part of the cycle of scientific talks "Zientziaren Ertzetik", organized together with the Bizenta Mogel Library of Durango.
"El Secreto de la Naturaleza" traces the life and work of Pedro Miguel Etxenike, professor of Condensed Matter Physics at the UPV/EHU, president of DIPC, and honorary president of Jakiunde. The documentary presents in a close and intimate tone Etxenike's reflections on science.
The screening of the documentary will serve as a starting point for the subsequent colloquium, with the director of the weekly Anboto, Jone Guenetxea, in which the audience will be able to talk with Etxenike and contribute to the reflections raised

About the speaker
Pedro Miguel Etxenike is Professor Emeritus of condensed matter physics at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and President of the Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC) ) and the Materials Physics Center (MPC). Honorary President of Jakiunde, the Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters of the Basque Country, honorary member of the Royal Academy of Sciences and of the Académie Royale de Belgique, and honorary member of the European Physical Society.
He has received numerous awards and distinctions. The Euskadi Research Award (1996), the Prince of Asturias Award for Scientific and Technical Research (1998), the Max Planck Physics Award (1998), the Blas Cabrera National Research Award (2005), or the Gold Medal of the City of San Sebastian (2000) and of Navarre (2016), stand out among others. He is also Doctor in Science by the University of Cambridge (1998), and Doctor Honoris Causa by six other universities.
In addition to his research work, with more than 400 articles published in specialized journals and more than 200 invited talks at international conferences and prestigious universities and institutions around the world, in recent years he has devoted a great effort to promote science as an economic and cultural activity, and to highlight the importance of a scientifically informed society
