Jot Down science popularization contest 2024
DIPC has been collaborating for years with the cultural magazine Jot Down as a sponsor of its science section through the popular science contest.
This year, the theme selected for the contest was "hominids" and four participation modalities have been established:
- Best science outreach essay
- Best science fiction narrative text
- Best scientific illustration
- Best scientific photograph
The prize in each category will be 1,000 euros. The winning texts will be published online, specifically, the popular essays in Jot Down and the narrative texts in Mercurio magazine. The winning illustration and photograph (or series of photographs) will be published in Jot Down's print magazines (Jot Down or Jot Down kids) and/or in Mercurio magazine. The finalists will receive a prize of a one-year subscription to Jot Down + Mercurio Magazine and a set of books, as well as the publication of the texts.
The competition is sponsored by Donostia International Physics Center, the Canfranc Underground Laboratory, Laboratorium Museoa, with the collaboration of the University of Seville, Jot Down, Mercurio Cultural Magazine and Next Door Editores.
Submission deadline is 14:00h on April 14th, 2024.
This year we are pleased to organize the eleventh edition of the Jot Down Science event, which will also focus on hominids on May 3 and 4 at the Tabakalera International Center for Contemporary Culture in Donostia/San Sebastián. Tha award ceremony of the contest will take place during the event.
