A Korean Physical Society delegation visited DIPC and participated in a joint scientific workshop
The president of the KPS, Suklyun Hong, and the director of DIPC, Ricardo Diez Muiño, delivered the opening presentations at the event, which included scientific talks by KPS and DIPC researchers

A delegation from the Korean Physical Society (KPS) visited Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC) and participated in a joint workshop to explore potential collaborative programs between both institutions.
The president of the KPS and member of the Sejong University, Suklyun Hong, opened the session with an overview of the scientific structure in Korea and the theoretical study of two-dimensional van der Waals heterostructures, followed by the director of DIPC, Ricardo Diez Muiño, who introduced the scientific research at DIPC.
The event included short scientific presentations delivered by DIPC and KPS researchers during the morning opened to DIPC community, and a roundtable for the speakers in the early afternoon.
The collaboration between DIPC and Korea is not new. In 2018, DIPC signed a memorandum of understanding with the Center for Quantum Nano Science (QNS) of Seul, an institute of basic science focused on spins on surfaces at the atomic scale.
QNS’s contributions in quantum science include the “first Korean qubit” in 2023 and the development of a mobile quantum sensor with unprecedented spatial resolution, opening new frontiers in quantum metrology.
