Kutxabank joins DIPC’s Board of Partners to promote scientific excellence in the Basque Country
The financial group will contribute to the development of the scientific and industrial ecosystem to support the future economy. This collaboration demonstrates the conviction that scientific research and knowledge are fundamental pillars for the economic and social wellbeing of Basque society.

Kutxabank became a member of the Board of Partners of the Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC) at the meeting held at midday today. This represents a step further in the Bank’s commitment to promoting high-level scientific research and developing a knowledge and innovation ecosystem in the Basque Country.
Kutxabank's commitment to the DIPC reflects its conviction that scientific research and the knowledge generated in centres of excellence such as this one are fundamental pillars for the economic and social well-being of Basque society. The financial institution channels its activities in the social sphere through Kutxabank Eragin, supporting initiatives related to cultural and natural heritage and contributing to development.
The president of Kutxabank, Antón Arriola, in his first meeting as a trustee, underlined that “an advanced society needs advanced scientific research, which is why we are delighted to contribute to the DIPC’s work as a catalyst for knowledge in the immediate scientific ecosystem, to respond to the global social challenges that require a scientific perspective. Recognised for its excellence and ability to attract international talent, the DIPC brings together key elements for future development: top-level scientific research, talent attraction and knowledge source for consolidating a cutting-edge industry that is already taking steps in shaping the new economy.”
The president of the DIPC, Pedro Miguel Etxenike, stated that “the fact that Kutxabank is committing to the DIPC shows its confidence in the transformative capacity of the centre’s research and in its contribution to the creation of ecosystems of excellence in future strategic areas. For this reason, we are proud to be leaders in a key knowledge development area that forms the basis for progress in the Basque Country.”
Pedro Miguel Etxenike commented that “the DIPC is a unique centre born from a public-private initiative, something that is quite unusual in the research world. Which is why we are happy and proud that major institutions, such as Kutxabank, have shown such confidence in supporting our work. The financial group joins other leading private entities such as Kutxa Fundazioa, CAF, Telefónica, EDP Foundation and, more recently, IBM, who have been promoting the DIPC’s work for many years and to whom we are deeply grateful.”
