We are currently accepting applications for a position in Maintenance Assistant.

The role

DONOSTIA INTERNATIONAL PHYSICS CENTER - DIPC (hereinafter, DIPC) and MPC RESEARCH ASSOCIATION - MATERIALS PHYSICS CENTER (hereinafter, MPC) are now accepting applications for a position as Maintenance Assistant.

Regarding the conditions of the contract, the candidate must join in November 2024 and will do so through a part-time contract with DIPC and another, also part-time, with MPC, reaching between both contracts the full time (37.5 hours per week).

The tasks to be performed will be:

  • Supervising buildings and repairing mechanical systems to ensure that they comply with health and safety standards.
  • Carrying out maintenance of electrical systems (e.g. replacing light bulbs and sockets, changing circuit breakers and differentials, etc.).
  • Monitoring of ventilation, cooling, heating, plumbing, alarm, pest and other systems.
  • Carrying out general maintenance procedures and other assigned tasks (e.g. landscaping, painting, carpentry, etc.).
  • Fitting out rooms and workstations and assembling their furnishings.
  • Carrying out manual repairs when necessary (e.g. fixing locks, replacing batteries, taps, etc.).
  • Identifying the need to subcontract work.
  • Programming of subcontracted work and coordination with the normal activity of the buildings, as well as supervision of the correct execution of these services.

Desired background & competences

The essential requirements to be eligible to apply are:

  • Intermediate level of spoken English.
  • At least two years of accredited experience working in similar positions and/or on construction sites.
  • Availability to join in November 2024.
  • Ability to perform versatile tasks in terms of function and responsibility, be autonomous in the organisation and performance of tasks and have own initiative, so you must be a dynamic, decisive and effective person.

Valued requirements will be:

Training in the following areas:
a. Electrical and automatic installations
b. Air conditioning
c. Carpentry and furniture
d. Other similar training

  • Individual Qualification Card.
  • Command of the computer applications necessary for the optimum development of the job.
  • B1 driving licence and own vehicle.

Working conditions

  • Estimated annual gross salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and consistent with our pay scales
  • Target start date: 2024/11/01

Selection process

Applications will be evaluated by a committee appointed by the Directors of DIPC and MPC on the basis of the following criteria (with the weighting as a percentage of the final score indicated in brackets):

- Applicant's CV (20%)
- Experience working in similar positions and/or on-site (40%)
- Personal interview (40%)

In order to pass to the personal interview phase, it will be necessary to obtain a minimum of 40 out of 60 in the evaluation of the CV and experience. Likewise, those profiles that, in the committee's opinion, do not meet any of the requirements for the job will not be evaluated.
