Amaia Carrión Castillo is an Ikerbasque researcher at the Basque Center on Cognition, Brain and Language (BCBL). After studying biology and cognitive neuroscience, she completed her doctoral thesis on the genetic basis of reading at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics in the Netherlands. She then led research at the same institute on the cerebral lateralization of language and its genetic architecture. Since 2020, she has been working at the BCBL in Donostia, analyzing the cognitive and neural processes related to reading and linking them to genetics.
