The life of a Hungarian physician through his struggles against the leading pragmatic, conservative quacks’ party while he becomes the first pioneer of the antiseptic procedures, saving many women’s life with his groundbreaking method.

First Ignacio López Goñi will give a brief presentation and after the screening there will be a question and answer session.

About the speaker

Ignacio López Goñi, PhD in Biology, Professor of Microbiology and Director of the Science Museum of the University of Navarra. His research has focused on the study of bacterial virulence and the development of new vaccines. Author of the blog "microBIO". He has published several scientific divulgation books: "¿Funcionan las vacunas?" (Prismas Award 2018), "Microbiota, los microbios de tu organismo", "Virus y pandemias", "Preparados para la próxima pandemia" and "Salud Global: la nueva estrategia frente a la amenaza medioambiental". Together with his daughter, he has written the book "Princesas de cristal", on the problem of juvenile anorexia. In 2021 he received the Lilly Foundation Award for Scientific Dissemination, the COSCE Award for the Dissemination of Science, and the CSIC-BBVA Foundation Award for Scientific Communication. In 2023 he received the Spanish Science Communication Award.
