Synopsis of the film:
Melanie, a wealthy and somewhat snobbish young woman from San Francisco’s high society, runs into lawyer Mitch Brenner in a bird shop. Knowing her wild reputation from the newspapers, he treats her with indifference and walks out—leaving her thoroughly annoyed.

Guest scientist and format:
Juan Ignacio Pérez Iglesias is currently Minister of Science, Universities, and Innovation for the Basque Government. He holds a PhD in biology and is a professor of animal physiology at the University of the Basque Country (EHU), where he headed the Chair of Scientific Culture for 14 years. After the screening, there will be the usual discussion session during which attendees can ask questions.

About the speaker

Juan Ignacio Pérez Iglesias is currently Minister of Science, Universities, and Innovation for the Basque Government. He holds a PhD in biology and is a professor of animal physiology at the University of the Basque Country (EHU), where he headed the Chair of Scientific Culture for 14 years. An associate of DIPC, he has been president of the Advisory Committee of The Conversation and president of Jakiunde, the Academy of Sciences, Arts, and Letters. In 2019, he received the Eusko Ikaskuntza-Laboral Kutxa Award for Humanities, Culture, Art, and Social Sciences. He
is the author of several popular science books on animal and human biology.
