The lecture series El Palo de Eratóstenes - Zientzia Elkarrizketak is an initiative of the Aranzadi Science Society that aims to disseminate knowledge of astronomy among the public. The project has the collaboration of Eureka! Zientzia Museoa and Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC).
The meetings have a duration of 90 minutes with different sections that include current events in astronomy: review of the visible sky of the month, significant astronomical objects, astronomical news, and interviews with researchers.
The encounter in April will focused on the following subjects:
Interview of the month: Silvia Bonoli
Silvia Bonoli is a researcher at the DIPC, where she studies the formation and evolution of supermassive black holes. We will talk to her about her professional career and the scientific projects in which she has participated.
News of the month: Supermassive black holes
The images produced by the Event Horizon Telescope of the environment of the M87 black hole in 2019 changed our understanding of these objects. Recent studies help us to better understand their nature and origin.
Image of the month: Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks
We present the images of comet Pons-Brooks obtained by astrophotographers Alicia Lozano and Vicent Peris in March this year.
