School sessions of Cinema and Science 2026 are here, registration opens on 2 February!
The ninth edition of the Film and Science series organised by the Basque Film Archive, Donostia International Physics Centre (DIPC) and the San Sebastian Film Festival is now underway. As is tradition, the Film and Science series includes special screenings for schools in Donostia/San Sebastian, Bilbao and Vitoria-Gasteiz in Basque and Spanish. This year, the Japanese animated film Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind (Hayao Miyazaki, 1984) will be screened. The film addresses pollution and the ecological crisis on Earth through the story of Princess Nausicaä, who fights for coexistence between humanity and nature. The subsequent conferenced will be delivered by Iñaki Susaeta and Itxaso Bengoetxea environmental technicians from IHOBE, the Basque Government's Public Environmental Management Organisation, and EKOETXEAK, the Network of Environmental Centres of the Basque Country. Synopsis of Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind (Hayao Miyazaki, 1984)
In the distant future, after an apocalyptic war, the Earth is flooded with poisonous fungi and giant insects. Humankind has been decimated; the survivors live in isolated villages and barely survive surrounded by forests contaminated with toxic gases and giant mutant insects.

Registration
The activity is free of charge.
Places will be allocated in order of receipt of applications, which must be submitted using the form that will be available here on 2 February at 10:00 a.m., until all available places are filled. Registration does not guarantee a place; you will receive a confirmation email.
