“Women scientists of yesterday and today” in Bilbao
“Women scientists of yesterday and today" past edition in the Ensanche Building, Bilbao.

Women Scientists of Yesterday and Today is one of the most special activities in the Emakumeak Zientzian programme, an event that connects the past and present to raise the profile of women in science. Five female scientists currently working at research centres in Gipuzkoa will take to the stage at the Victoria Eugenia Club Room to share their professional experience and explain, in a friendly and accessible way, what they are researching today and what their day-to-day life as scientists is like.

Each of them will also pay tribute to a female scientist or technologist from the past, reviving key figures whose contributions were fundamental but who remained invisible for a long time. Through the story of their lives and discoveries, the activity combines scientific dissemination and memory.

Ainara Cano Researcher- AZTI
Fátima Aurora Saiz Álvaro Development Director - Vicomtech
Iraide Artetxe Arrate Researcher in Sustainable Fisheries Management and Tunas - AZTI
Janire Saez Ramón y Cajal and Ikerbasque Research Fellow - EHU/UPV-BCMaterials
Luz Roncal Ikerbasque Research Associate - BCAM

Women Scientists of Yesterday and Today is, in short, an act of recognition and justice: a tribute to the women who paved the way and an open window to highlight those who continue to build knowledge today.
