Topological gels based on cyclic polymers

Internship

Type of Project: Theory

Location: Donostia

Supervisors:
Fabienne Barroso-Bujans
Status: closed

Cyclic polymers possess unique physico-chemical properties compared to their linear counterparts as a result of the absence of end-groups and the equivalence of all monomer units. These differences may be expressed in their hydrodynamic, rheological, optical and thermal properties.

The student will explore new approaches to novel polymer networks by combining methods that include the synthesis of functional cyclic polymers and click-chemistry reactions. The objective of this project is the generation of novel functional polymeric gels based on cyclic polymers with improved chemical and physical properties (relative to linear analogs). Benefits for the student include the opportunity to work on state of the art instruments, and on a cutting-edge research project.
