Quantum interference effects due to spin fields in mesoscopic rings
Electrons moving in closed loops give rise to peculiar phenomena as quantum interference. This can be controlled by applying external magnetic fields (the Aharonov-Bohm effect) or external electric fields (the Aharonov-Casher effect). The magnetic field controls interference both via orbital and Zeeman term. In this project we propose to investigate the interplay between the Rashba spin-orbit coupling and the Zeeman term in the transport properties of single channel quantum rings.
