Assessing Au-Protein coordination in bacteria using X-rays

We want to probe the ability of certain engineered proteins to coordinate to gold and increase the resistance of bacteria to the toxic ions. As such, you will analyse X-ray data acquired previously at Diamond light source from bacteria expressing different proteins and treated with Au salts. You will learn to handle, understand and combine microscopy and spectroscopic data to resolve a biological problem through the application of chemical and physical concepts.
