Transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) are quantum materials exhibiting interesting coexisting states of matter, such as charge density waves and superconductivity, with indications of important electron-electron interactions. Many recent experimental reports have implications for the properties and symmetries of these ground states, which are still poorly understood. During the project we will develop and study a relevant low-energy theory model to describe these correlated states. A combination of analytical methods and simple numerical routines will be then implemented to characterize and predict the resulting broken symmetries and properties, and connect them to existing experimental data. There will be a collaboration with experimental groups working on TMDs.
