At DIPC, we reaffirm our commitment to achieving real and effective equality between women and men, promoting an inclusive and diverse organizational culture.

In September 2020, we launched our First Equality Plan, structured around four key areas that addressed the main challenges identified during the initial diagnostic phase: organizational culture, staff diversity, prevention of sexual harassment in the workplace, and work-life balance. Key milestones included the development of a workplace violence protocol, awareness campaigns, and the incorporation of inclusive language in our communications.

The Equality Plan was the result of a collective process involving representatives from different areas of DIPC, through an Equality Committee created specifically for this purpose.

In recent years, DIPC has carried out various actions to raise awareness about gender equality and diversity in science, to highlight the work of women and other underrepresented groups, to provide diverse role models for new generations, and to challenge the traditional stereotype of the scientist as a white heterosexual man.
We have become a key reference point for the celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science (February 11) thanks to the Emakumeak Zientzian initiative, launched by the DIPC from its early stages. Today, Emakumeak Zientzian brings together 35 scientific and technological institutions across the Basque Country. In 2022, the initiative received the First STEAM Euskadi Award and the Special Gender Perspective Mention in the category of Most Innovative STEAM Education Initiative, granted by the Basque Government's Department of Education and Innobasque.

Since 2019, we have also celebrated LGBTQ+ in STEM Day on November 18, together with CFM and CIC nanoGUNE. In addition, a specific program titled Women and Science has been created in collaboration with the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, aimed at supporting the careers of outstanding women scientists.

In 2025, we are working on the development of our Second Equality Plan, which will define our roadmap for the coming years. Through this plan, we reaffirm and strengthen our commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion across all areas of DIPC.
