How to apply

Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC) is looking for candidates with a university degree in a relevant field, preferably in science, communication, or cultural management, to join its Outreach and Communication Office on a temporary replacement contract. The selected candidate will support the organization, delivery, and communication of DIPC's outreach activities and projects and report to the Head of Outreach and Communication.

The role

The candidate's main responsibilities will include:

  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and delivery of DIPC's science outreach and public engagement programs, events, and activities.
  • Support the communication of DIPC's activities through the Center's website, newsletters, and social media channels.
  • Review, adapt, and publish communication content, including press releases, website content, newsletters, and social media posts.
  • Support the monitoring and assessment of DIPC's outreach and communication activities, contributing to the preparation of reports and performance indicators.
  • Assist in the preparation and updating of communication and outreach materials, including brochures, presentations, and promotional content.
  • Contribute to the administrative and organizational tasks of the Outreach and Communication Office.

Desired background & competences

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field, preferably in science, communication, or cultural management.
  • Excellent command of Basque, Spanish, and English, both written and spoken.
  • Availability to start as soon as possible.

Desirable experience:

  • Relevant experience or formal training in science communication, science outreach, or public engagement.
  • Experience organizing scientific, educational, or cultural events.
  • Experience working in an international research environment, such as a research center, research institute, university, technology center, or similar organization.
  • Experience managing digital communication channels (websites, newsletters, and social media), as well as using content creation, social media management, and email marketing tools.

Personal skills:

  • Commitment to promoting public engagement with science.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
  • Creativity and the ability to develop engaging content for different audiences and communication channels.
  • Proactive, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Working conditions

  • Contract duration: Full-time temporary replacement contract. DIPC guarantees a minimum contract duration of six months.
  • Estimated annual gross salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience, and consistent with DIPC's salary scales.
  • Target start date: 2026/09/01

The center

About the team

DIPC's Outreach and Communication Team is responsible for communicating the Center's research and promoting public engagement with science through a wide range of outreach programs, events, and communication initiatives.

Selection process

Applications received by the deadline will be evaluated by a Selection Committee appointed by the DIPC Board, according to the following criteria:

  • CV, qualifications, and relevant experience (50%)
  • Cover letter (10%)
  • Personal interview (40%)

To be invited to the interview stage, candidates must obtain a minimum score of 40 out of 60 in the evaluation of their application. Likewise, applications that, in the opinion of the Selection Committee, do not meet the requirements of the position will not be considered.

Applicants will be informed of the outcome of the selection process as soon as possible. The final resolution of the selection process will be published on the DIPC website. The position will only be filled if a suitable candidate is identified.
