Jot Down Science

Every year, the Jot Down Science meeting brings together some of the best-known figures in science, popular science and illustration. The event came into being in Seville, where the first editions were held, and has travelled to San Sebastian and Jaca over the course of its 9 editions.
The dynamic programme includes short talks, panel discussions and entertaining shows, as well as the prize-giving ceremony of the annual science outreach competition associated with the event.
Science outreach competition
The competition currently has four €1,000 prizes in the following categories:
- Best science outreach essay
- Best science fiction narrative text
- Best scientific illustration
- Best scientific photograph
The prizes are sponsored respectively by the Donostia International Physics Center, the Canfranc Underground Laboratory and the Laboratorium de Bergara and the University of Seville. The competition is open to anyone of any nationality, regardless of their track record in science outreach.
Jot Down and the DIPC have been collaborating for years in the science outreach competition and have jointly published the books The Turing Dilemma and other scientific texts and Wolfram cannons and other scientific texts, which bring together the most outstanding works from among those submitted.
